Short Poems

Sabbaths are threefold, (as S. Austine sayes:)
The first of Time, or Sabbath here of Dayes;
The second is a Conscience trespasse-free;
The last the Sabbath of Eternitie.

Two things do make society to stand;
The first Commerce is, & the next Command.

Glory to God on high;
Forever bless his name;
Let earth, and seas, and sky,
His wondrous love proclaim.
To him be praise and glory giv'n,
By all on earth and all in heav'n.

Beneath love's heavy weight my falt'ring soul
Plods, like the packman, o'er life's dusty road.
