Goodnight baby boy

In this bright buzzing room full of sound,
it’s time for us to settle down.
Pick up your toys to put away,
it’s time to clean not time to play.
Get your games and your dump trucks too,
gather them up you know what to do.
Clean your teeth and brush your hair.
Your almost done, almost there.
Now it’s time to head to bed
so you can lay down and rest your sweet head.
I’ll sing you a song and read to you too
so you never forget just how much I love you.

A mother’s letter

I can’t wait to meet you, please know this is true.
I cant wait to kiss and cuddle you too.
To hold you in my arms and snuggle you tight.
To always love and protect you with all of my might.
I know you will be beautiful loving and smart.
You will fill my life with joy and my fridge with your art.
You will run through the halls and mess up the place.
Then look at me and smile with a mud covered face.
You will fight with your brother.
You will scream and yell.

Sudden Rain

A cloud is born
   From river’s edge
      As rain begins to fly

The sun leaks out
   From building gaps
      As clouds and clear-sky mix

I seek a bridge
   A makeshift roof
To hide and keep me dry

But then I see
   A mother mad—
Her boy runs by and kicks
