Mary Soon Lee was born and raised in London, England, where she graduated Cambridge University with a Master of Arts in mathematics and a diploma in computer science. Two years later, Mary went back to college, this time at Cranfield University, and gained a Master of Science in astronautics and space engineering. For over 20 years she’s been living in Pittsburgh, US.

What is your background?
 
My name is Ndonwie Muma Alain, and I’m a 25-year-old Cameroonian writer and poet who writes using the pen name N. Muma Alain. I have been writing since I was fourteen and see writing as both a hobby and a profession. I also have a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
 
Your background of living in Cameroon and writing poetry in both English and French is unique. How has this influenced your perspective, themes, technique, and technique?

What is the background to the poem, “Cherry Blossom Reverie?” Where did you hear Keiko Abe play? Did you immediately start thinking of the poem or did it start coming to you over time?
 
After the 2011 Japan tsunami and earthquake, there was a call for poems, stories, and artwork for an anthology entitled New Sun Rising: Stories for Japan. All the proceeds would go to the Japanese Red Cross. Here is a link to the book:
