What is the perfect collection and sequence of words?
Which words, when grouped together
will sing in a sequence of notes
so clear and beautiful
that they roll forward so gracefully
absent of resistance?
Connected to one another as if they only exist to be together,
those chosen few.

I want to know what that sentence sounds like.
I want to see it sitting there
on a crisp, cream-colored page.
I want to be the one who stumbles upon it
and brings it into the world through my fingertips.
Passed immaculately into the keys
in some magical stroke of artistry.

And I sit and stare at the page
willing it to appear.
No differently than any of the other weighty
dreams I conjure
and will into existence, or wait for –
often with extremes of effort
and in other times
with the laziness of buying a lottery ticket.

What does this perfect sentence say?
I know it must be more musical than any combination of vibrations
yet produced by man or nature.
And I want to read it, and hear it.

I want to feel that moment
when it exists in my eyes for the first time.
And before it will never be the same again.
