The cryptic eye once spoke to me,
And what it said may alarm you.
It frightened me, I trembled in fear and cringed
Whilst this mighty orb revolved
In its own universe of flowing matter.
Spoken softly, I had to lean
And pull myself closer as my fate was revealed.
Gasping for breath and falling to my knees,
I knew what I just heard.
Clocks became nonexistent, (even though they already were),
I gathered myself and made for the door.
This cosmic orb seemed puzzled
It followed me towards the exit.
I turned in defiance, I stood tall as the sky.
I shouted out loud, “WHY, WHY!!!!”
The tears started falling from its uncovered surface,
The deluge was torrential and continued to fall.
Whilst I reached for anything,
To grab on the wall.
“Why are you crying you miserable beast? It doesn’t make sense!”
The eye moved closer and regrettably said,
“My role predetermined, the courier of woes.
I feel pain just like you and it manifests every day.
I wish you good fortune on your unpleasant way.”
Startled and surprised, I bowed my head.
I thanked this being and departed as planned.
My destination was perilous, wicked, and frightful,
With nary a chance of survival,
But along I went, steady and true.
Strength not only for me, but others who knew.
Saddled with sadness, heartache, and remorse,
I finally arrived and mounted my horse.
And away I went towards uncertainty and pain,
Gaining courage as needed, to ultimately gain,
The one thing that I hoped for, the secret to it all,
Was waiting for me out there behind those sturdy walls…
