Aeroplane Crosses the sky alone A blackbird settles for the night. Dark tree Silhouette The dark sky. Air on my skin A shiver Mosquitoes. So few colours This late in the day Forest washed out. Distant lights Other people's lives The drift toward silence. Working it out Mathematically It is not even two. Gravity A harsh mistress My balls hang low. The dim windows Old cataracts Will soon be blind. The soft sound Of wood borers Eating my home. Darkness then During these few words Summons again the night.
