SOMETIME SOON

That old tune
The final act having now begun
A life so full of those loose ends
It’s a scarf with dangling threads
Striped in greys and fading reds
Worn, but still hangs on the rail
Yet so few will ever hear its tale
Even the messages that it sends
It’s nearly time when all is done
Sometime soon

A pallid moon
Looking down on empty years
So mute with little left to know
Yet with no wise words to give
For any full life one might live
Even the sun that shines bright
Soon to disappear every night
Stars wishing for another show
Hoping that a cloudy sky clears
Sometime soon

A sigil rune
Foretelling when the race is run
Now may be time to take a bow
And with dignity, leave the stage
Now one’s reached a certain age
With just that modest reputation
To be left standing at the station
And those final hours Fates allow
It’s nearly time when all is done
Sometime soon
