Am I the only one feeling black and white
In such a colorful world?
The only one drifting with the waves
In tales, they say you're the master of your sea,
But I seem like the worst kind of greedy
Not knowing what I'm greedy for.
So I take all I’m given and claim it as mine.

Sorry if I sounded low before,
I was tangled in my thoughts.
I couldn’t see around me
The world can be so draining sometimes.
We riding its waves,
Get lost sometimes in the storm.
But honestly,
We don’t even need a storm to lose our way.

Trying to hold it all in our hands,
We forget our milestones.
We carry so much, yet never pause to cherish it.
The fear of the unknown
Pins us to the starting line.
All we see is what could be.

Truth is, the world has nothing on us
We’re the ones doing all the something.
But what we don’t always get is:
Sometimes, something is really nothing.
And when that nothing stacks up,
It weighs heavy
Especially on the heart.
This hollow kind of something
Hurts.

Isn’t it time we added some color?
We don’t need to start with the bright ones
Even soft pastels will do.
Let’s work our way to our colors.
Black and white aren’t our only options.
Let’s begin to let go.
Let’s dream of what is,
Not just what was,
Or what might be.
Let’s begin something.
Let’s learn the shape of our boats—
Then maybe we can learn how to row them.
Let’s make feeling up an option;
Feeling down doesn’t have to be the default.
Does your heart feel lighter?
Because I think mine does.
