Year
A sleight of hand, a fleeting trick,
The house decides, the deck is thick.
Pick a card, now watch it fade,
The queen dethroned, the ace betrayed.
Diamonds shimmer, hollow light,
Illusions masked in black and white.
The king is grinning, hearts are torn,
A game where losers die reborn.
Fate is shuffled, shuffled fast,
No matter which, you draw your past.
Clubs for bruises, spades for graves,
Jokers lost in red charades.
And when the dealer folds the show,
You’ll wonder why you played at all.
For cards are silent, fate’s unkind,
Pick again—you’re out of time.
