I feel your venomous weed wrap around my stem,
stealing the air once gifted by the breeze.
I wilt from the outside in.

Your poison feeds on my livelihood—
each second, your acrimony climbs my cells,
dulling my once-bright petals.

A selfish tree,
hoarding every ray that slips through clouded skies,
shading my shivering soul,
desperate for a single sliver of sun
to thaw my cold, collapsing heart.
