We met in a patch
Between the tall grass;
You wore a summer dress,
I tasted the grapes on your lips.
Dew remained on the grass,
The scent of roses lingered;
At the edge of the woods
A shadow grew into the night.
We lay on a blanket,
Stars reflecting in our eyes;
By evening the air bit coldly
And broken arrows danced in line.
Morning came—I saw your face
On a pillow of hyacinths;
The blue river broke
And carried us to sea.
And carried us to sea.
