Pure snow mantled on the ground
Ghostly sun through clouds on high
Road salt on my windshield found
Drivers, creeping, passing by
Mountain trees bear winter's dust;
Pale shadows stretch on road and crust
Gusty sighs from days of old,
Quiet whispers from the cold.
