Moonflowers bloom in the dark
when the others are asleep
beneath a sky revealed by stars,
a universe unknown
to those that live in blue day;
their scent offered to night creatures
who hunt silent and hidden
from prey and predator alike
in a stillness sometimes broken
by the songs of night birds
calling out for company and comfort
through the dark void,
waiting for the return of Light.
