A NEW DAY

As the morning sun rises, so do I
From the regrets of a bleak life
To a glimpse of happy sunshine
Albeit so ignorant of my strife
Yet it notices my smile as I sigh

This is a new day, to start again
Hope now emerges with a stare
Unfamiliar with this pleasantness
But is enthused and keen to share
Both of us having much to gain

All the ghosts of pain fade away
I am now filled with gratitude
To be free again, a feeling I lost
And with a new energy imbued
Embrace blue skies no longer grey

I am now ready to face all worlds
As I take my place as duty calls
With suffering taken in my stride
Relishing pleasure as sadness stalls
As the raised flag of hope unfurls
