We push them out in mammoth quantities, We let them out without batting an eyelid, We say, The expanse of the sky can contain them, We say, Her rooms are large enough to keep an open house, Oh! How we paint the sky, How we decorate her with our emissions and wastes, Oh! How we overcrowd her rooms causing disaster and chaos, Our activities ail her, They cause her untold troubles, Industry and clean living, An incompatible pair, They don’t see eye to eye, Though the former chauffeur drives the economy, Its effluents and wastes, Should be cut down to the least tolerable, The world is at the brink of imminent danger, If we ignore the writings on the wall, To make healthy strides is better medicine than to advance backwards in the guise of productivity.
