Mount Tamalpais

     Mount Tamalpais?
     Of course, I know Mount Tamalpais!
     I had the privilege of
     meditating on Mount Tam                 

     I sat alone among the perfections
     vaguely uncomfortable
     The sun spread his warmth
     and the wind blew gently on my cheeks.
     Everything wassimply flawless.

    My discomfort grew-
    not a physical distress
    but a pain born of lack
    born of separateness
    born of wanting more….

    Oh, magnanimous mountain,
    to this day I hold you
    in reverence and gratitude
    for holding my deficiency
    in such kindness.
