Like an eaglet on its first flight I jot and thrumb up the fleeting stairs Scared at first with my eyes closed Afraid I might fall But yet will I stand and say Though this is new,I shall overcome Like a ballet dancer on his first dance night I fear and I hear my heart thump With every beating sound as seconds fly With those prying eyes looking at me Hoping and wondering what a spark I shall become I stand and I say, though this is new,I shall press on Like a baby learning to walk I stand and I fall, making silly mistakes At times a leg before another may lead to another drastic fall Jotting around, afraid if to go or not As I fear for another fall A fall that may be stronger than the last But yet again will I stand and say, tough this is new, I shall continue to push I shall overcome every new obstacle I shall encounter with perseverance and consistency And with this I hope More eaglets, whose wings are tamed for flight, though being severed by spongy thorns More dancers whose mind have polished and prepared, though there might be a thousand and one doubts More babies whom legs have been carefully groomed to throw and to subdue the other, though the falls have been countless Would this world evolve And I hope even in this new obstacle,I shall stand and say Though this is new, I shall continue to overcome.
