Dry and Yearning

taste the wine of old

and leave the fresh:

the ancients favor bold

~~

soaking the drink

consuming the fallow:

the Earth grown over-ripe

~~

thirst unneeded

love unheeded:

animals, you and I

~~

from a rocky well

we draw our soul

but pride that swells

will miss the goal

~~

divine anguish

rapturous pain:

we languish

~~

it was a morning fog

but if it had been night

then all would be all right

~~

rich with leisure

is such a pleasure

but without the dough

—oh—what a hole!
