Year

A season under cover yet so brazen
delightful tho our hued environ  maybe to watch
days so abbreviated, a torrid chill to face
one can shiver while gazing at solemn trees
about to shed their signature visuals,
variegated orange, red,  yellow, ochre
to name such vivid inkling on display
I speak of leafy flutter douse o'er  splendid walkway
lush  speckled pasture, meadow, patch, mead
they  bear the bitter fall  breath and sweep
stiff  challenge to poet laureate to muster deft refrain
golden-crowned sparrow, cedar waxwings, blue robin
cold weather tuneful swirl from grey cloud sky
theirs is a more foreboding chirp
reflection on austere elemental path
to maestro at the easel with fertile palette
the forest bares its twigs without a flinch
sombre gust without mercy to pendant fruit
wild berries cast aside as thoughtless act by season’s frown
trampled underfoot by Fall ramblers
slip prone passers-by oversight otherwise engaged
glacial moon shimmer might connote absent recall
of sunshine rays forever bountiful extent
now often yearned for but not as frequent  in appearance
a frost bite dimming-down of radiant summer phase
