Bauke Kamstra is a poet and artist, most well-known for his short, haiku-like micropoetry, which he publishes regularly on his Twitter account, @Wyrde. The poems explore dreams, romantic longings, and more, often with interesting visual qualities, “When I sleep / I wake / / in the body / of a snake ...,” and fresh metaphors, “prying open / the knees of my mind.”
More than clever phrases or beautiful images, though, this collection leaves many poems that linger in the imagination and make you want to reread the book (it takes less than an hour to finish the whole book). I’ll leave this review with the last two stanzas of “Threads:”
