Author
Whosoever from thy quarter, Weary of abiding, goeth,
His affair, in fine, to nothing Other than deriding goeth.

By the light of guidance, pilgrim, Seek the way unto the Friend;
For the goal he reacheth never Who astray, self-priding, goeth.

Take thine ease of wine and loveling At life's end; for pity 'tis
If, like youth, old age's season, All in vain betiding, goeth.

Guide of heart-astray gone lovers, Help, 'fore God, a little help!
For the stranger, who the pathway Knoweth not, by guiding goeth.

Drunkenness and sober living By their issue are to judge;
None can tell in what case any Hence, by Fate's providing, goeth.

Still the caravan in pleasance Sitteth and in glory fareth
That, for guidance and protection In God's grace confiding, goeth.

Quaff a cup from wisdom's fountain, Hafiz: ignorance's script,
May be, from the bosom's tablet At its hest subsiding, goeth.
