Lift anchor, set sail, and swing out on the deep,
Where waters and winds everlastingly sweep;

Where ripples are smoothed to the heave and the roll,
And ocean and sky are immerged with the soul;

Where thunders boom deeply and cloud-billows form,
And fire blazes out of the heart of the storm;

Where salt vapours fly in the breath of the blast,
And currents and tides bear us on through the vast.
. . . . . . . .

Ah, life is a ship, and each thought is a sail
Full set to the breezes, emotion the gale,

And God is the blue sky, the thunder, the light,
Revealing His beauty or hiding in night.

Drive on, Breath of God, my own soul is the sea,
And I am a-sailing, a-sailing with Thee.
