Once more I view thy happy shores
O England bold & free
Round whom the guardian ocean roars
Fair flowret of the sea

2

And starlike thou dost gently rest
Arrayed in living green
Upon the black waves gloomy bre[a]st
A bright gem thou art seen

3

Those oft dark curtain'ning vapours veil
Thy clear cerulian sky
And often loud winds wildly wail
Or sorrowfully sigh

4

Among thy oaken forests vast
All robed in misty gloom
Which by the lightnings fire scathed
Bend neath the thunders boom

5

Yet still bold hearts within thee dwell
The brave the free the feirce

Rush forthe their foes to peirce
But Africa to me is dear,
I love its sunny clime
Its skies for ever blue & clear
And now Ive done my rhyme
