Breast-high through the bracken,
We scrambled down the slack,
As the first star kindled,
And the valley called us back—

The voices of the valley
Calling through the gloam,
The streams of our own valley
Calling us home—

The voice of many waters
Calling us to rest
As the first star kindled
In the amber west.
