My heart adored three powers above,
And bow'd to Justice, Fortune, Love;
I sought their smiles, but sigh'd to find
That Justice, Fortune, Love, were blind.

O would the powers that stole their sight
In sympathy their souls unite,
Then might the three display to view
Charms that the Graces never knew!

Justice the smiles of Fortune prove,
And Fortune gild the smiles of Love.
