Though the flow'r of the field in the summer's gay tide
May fade into dust, or sink back to the earth,
'Tis the link of a life-chain that never has died
Since the first of its kind came in bloom from its birth.
So the forms of man's life-chain may die, one by one,
Yet fair comes the last to the light of the sun.
