Not of the earth, nor sense are we,
Though here on earth we dwell;
But higher things than these we see,
Of higher things can tell.

The Spirit doth our spirits teach,
Though dull, and slow to hear;
And messages it brings to each,
Had each the listening ear.

It speaks of God, it speaks of heaven,
Of Christ, who from it came;
And of eternal life, that's given
To those who love his name.

Of faith and hope, and peace and joy,
Unknown to worldly mind;
Which time, and sense cannot destroy,
Which they who seek shall find.

Come, Holy Spirit, from above,
And of thy gifts impart;
Come with thy light, thy truth, thy love,
And dwell in every heart.
