Sonnet Comparing Fidlelial to the 4: Seasons — and the 4: times of the Day
Ha'st th'e're markt the joyfull Spring
All clad in faire perfum'd array
Or heard her Phylomele sing
Or seen the dawning of a Day
In Sumer e're the Sun had tann'd its bewty away.
Ha'st th'observ'd how th'Evening Skies
In Automn purple-mantled are
When each bird homewards chirping flies
Or Winters single couler rare
When snow had dight the ground, and Frost had purg'd the Ayre.
Now would'st thou fain both see and heer
At once all these conjoynd in one
Contending whither seeme more cleer
Whilst they cause a Perfection
In Her whom Vertue, and wisedome cleap their Compagnion.
