Oh! then, as we did meet, all young,
An' trip wi' litty veet abroad,
Or else in bands did come all gaÿ
Along the grove up hwome,
Sis, sis , the whispers here an' there
Did hiss vrom man an' maïd in peäir.

Or when the wind, a-springen keen
Vrom eastern slopes, did fling about
The snow, or overlay the tree
An' ground wi' hoar-vrost grey,
Sis, sis , our litty steps did sound,
 A-trippen on the vrosty ground.

At times when leaves were dead an' vell
A-scatter'd browny-red, or spun
In windy rings around our veet
On elem-sheäded ground,
Sis, sis , our shoes did russle light
On leaves an' motes a-wither'd white.

An' when ageän we pass'd along
The half-dry'd haÿ a-cast abroad,
In aïr a-smellen sweet, about
Our nimbly steppen veet,
Sis, sis , our voot-steps on the haÿ
Did sound along our zummer waÿ.

An' still mid jaÿ betide us all,
A-scatter'd vur an' wide away,
An' mid we vind by greäce that now
Wherever is our pleäce,
Teeh-hee shall be our merry sound
Along the road or grassy ground.
