Why should the click of the sneck
Of the opening door
Bring back to my mind the loud roar
Of the sea on the night of the wreck?

I cannot remember at all
Hearing it then,
When I saw the door open; and men
Carried something in out of the squall

Nothing I heard all that night
But the crash of the sea
That had brought back my husband to me,
Till the corpse-candles dimmed in daylight.
