As I was a-walking the other day,
I peeped in a window just over the way
And old and bent and feeble too,
There sat an old cobbler a-making a shoe.
With a rack-a-tac-tac and a rack-a-tack-too,
This is the way he makes a shoe.
With a bright little awl he makes a hole,
Right through the upper and then through the sole.
He puts in a peg, he puts in two,
And a ha-ha-ha-ha and he hammers it through.
