Seeing a House on Fire in Bond-Street

As I was going to my Bed,
'Twas on Asummer's Night;
A House did then burst out in Flames,
How dreadful was the sight!

The suffering Inhabitants
Did from the Window fall;
I heard the Engine hast'ning on,
The Watch-man's Rattle call.

But, Oh! my Soul, think thou of this —
The Heavens will retire;
The Elements shall melt with heat,
And all the World be Fire.

How wonderful will be that sight,
When all the Earth is burn'd!
Nations that forget the Lord
Shall into Hell be turn'd.

May I of God my Saviour think,
And thus I safe shall be;
It is a pleasing happy Thought,
That once he dy'd for me.
