your desire is I shuld kepe in mynde
the purpose I was in when ye spake with me laste.
Truly, unconstant you shall me never fynde,
but ever to be trewe, feithfull and kinde,
and to yow beire my trew harte withouten vareance,
desiring you to make me noo dyssemblance.

Also, wher you saye that my bewtye soo sore
shuld you inflame with persing violence,
that with extreme love of me you shuld be caught in snare:
I mervell thereof gretly without douttance
that itt shuld have suche might or puisance,
for I knowe right well I was never so bewtiouse
that I shuld you constren to be soo amerous.

Also wher you saye that absens shuld be
the grettest payne that can be devised
unto on that is in grette extremitee
and with paynfful love soore tormented:
itt is of a truthe, itt can nott be denyed
butt that absens causeth ofte penciffenes;
butt I suppose you be in noo such distresse.

Also itt is truth that throughe povertye
many on dare nott put hym-selffe in prease;
butt I take you for none of them, trulye,
butt that you durst, if that itt did yow please,
your-selffe put forthe your harte for to ease.
for how shuld I your sorowez redresse
but iff that ye to me doo them pleynly expresse?

Also wher you desire me that I shuld nott shrinke,
butt that I shuld continewe in the same mynde
that you lafte me in, soo that then you might thinke
that there were some truthe in womans kinde:
surely in the same mynde ye shall me styll fynde,
soo that you shall nott nede me forto mistruste,
though peraventure you have fonde some unjuste.

Itt is a trewe proverbe and off olde antiquite,
" dispraise nott all, though on have offended".
Butt they be worthye prasse that stydfast and trowe be,
and they disprease, that oderwayez have intended:
yett say well, " By the worst the best may be amended",
for my love ye sett uppon a perffitt gronde.
noo dissayte in me truly shal be founde

Butt I wylbe trewe, though I should continewe
all my hole lyffe in payne and hevynesse.
I will never change you for any other newe.
Yow be my joye, my comfforte and gladnes,
whome I shall serve with all dilligence.
Exyle me never from your harte soo dere,
whiche unto my harte have sett you most nere.

Fynally, this scedule forto conclude,
my purpose is certen according to the same,
myndyng for your sake all fantasyez to exclude
off love fayned, and the contrarye to attaine:
and by lyke usage off us shall springe the fame
unto the presence off Venus, that goddes eternall,
whoo off hur goodnes grante joye to trewe lovers all.
