What words can show my hidden soul to yours?
What speech reveal my being as it calls
Across the breach of self's surmountless walls?
Futile are words,—a lover's voice assures,
And yet the utterance of his heart is still …
For it is only in the silent spell
Of rapt caress that breathing kisses tell
What we have striv'n to speak. 'Tis in the thrill
Of answering sense to sense that I but know
Your inner being's message unto me;
Bared in the bliss of meeting lips, I see
Your soul stand naked in the sunlight's glow!
