This Register of Friends when I survey

This Register of Friends when I survey,
Part drown'd in endless night, others the day
With me enjoying, Greif and Joy contest
Which first shall break a passage through my Breast;
But since the eldest friendship, which ally'd
My soule to these, the Fates did first divide,
Pardon, Dear Shades, if with untuned Verse
I breake the silence which attends your Herse;
You first engag'd my Love, and 'tis but just
I first salute (with tears) your hallow'd dust.
