You do not feel my pain now. Because you have died, I cannot
rejoice with the young men who wear chaplets bound with strong cord
as they celebrate. Must I go and tell your people of your death
while I lift my hands empty of bangles, showing whitened bands
as when the bark is stripped from sprouts
of bamboo that have never seeded? Tell me what I must do!
