It rises up for those standing here, and if you walk
a little way and stand there, O how sadly it rises,
where once the courtyards flowed with the fermenting
sap from masses of sugarcane fiber pressed out
as if they were balls chewed by elephants,
the hill of the lord who used to freely give away chariots!
