that wonder rare then said to me,
“the city it is the Lamb did seek,
to suffer there sore, for sake of man,—

for there the old guilt was assoil'd;
but the New, come down by God's own word,—
the Apostle's theme in Apocalypse,—
'tis there the Lamb, with no black stain,
thither hath borne. His beauteous throng;
and as His flock is without fold,
moatless His mansion in that spot.
