“This spotless band thou speakest of,
this throng of thousands, such a host;
a city vast, so many ye are,
without a doubt, ye needs must have.
So comely a pack of joyous jewels
'twere perilous to lodge without;
but, where I tarry by these banks,
I see no dwelling anywhere
I trow ye but linger here and walk,
to look on the glory of this fair stream;
if elsewhere thou hast dwellings firm,
now lead me to that merry spot.”
