To A. W. K.

SHALL we grow old together?
Nay! though 't is wintry weather
The earth awaits the spring,
When suns shall warm the heather,
When birds will moult and feather,
And happy things take wing:
And thou and I together,
Defying wintry weather,
We, too, will wait our spring.
