Music stole in; and all the idle chatter
Of gossip tongues was stilled; and for an hour
Our hearts were held by the ethereal power,
Forgetful of the long day's fret and clatter

No longer in a narrow track of duty
Each life moved dully in its little round:
Released from servitude by magic sound,
Our hearts were one with the eternal beauty.
