Year
I'll have a place beside you 'neath angel-white marble
in lovers' moonlight,
in the veterans cemetery with brothers and sisters,
some who fell in the fight,
where the mown grass receives the rain of tears,
as sparrows nest in springtime trees,
of summers' fierce sun's rays upon Memorial Day
assemblies,
of autumnal frosted winds laying leaf carpets for
kneeling knees,
and our daughter, son-in-law we cherish,
not bound from love by Death,
bring our grandchildren, clutching winter roses
with babies' breath,
as we lay together beneath blustery March
stinging sleet,
love, I'll have a place beside you,
and our spirits will journey once again
to the fleet. ~
