7 a.m., apprentice cake decorator, flour on my face, to please the bakery owner, keep up with the pace, cakes and frosting made from scratch, another wedding cake order, make a big batch, blocks of butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, dump them in a huge mixer with finesse intact. I really must stop sampling my delectable creations, my blood sugar is real high, I'm getting dizzy sensations, slinging frosting and creating royal icing roses, the scent of birthday cakes and cookies waft to people's noses, if a bratty child demands a cookie, no sweat, give them a sugar rush their snooty Mom will never forget! We decorate minimalist and high falutin' cakes, even gumpaste and modeling chocolate for piss-sakes! some customers are friendly, some who's presence I don't miss, a satisfied customer is bliss. Though some spoiled bridezillas deserve buttercream plopped on their coiffed heads, this is not an occupation I dread, there's much reward to my sugary dreams, and that's seeing pleasant brides and grooms so happy with their wedding cakes, their tears in streams, after all, what can I say, I smile, and say, "All In A day."
