Madrigal

Bright and serene eyes,
if you are praised for having a sweet glance,
why when looking at me do you look angrily?
If the kinder you are
the more beautiful you seem to him who gazes at you,
do not look at me in anger
so as not to appear less beautiful.
Oh, raging torments!
Bright and serene eyes,
even though you look at me thus, at least do look at me.
