Came a time in history—
The history of Life—
When the male—so long inferior—
Claimed to be the born superior
As the Lord of Strife.
He looked down on industry—
Work was made for slaves!
Woman's life they made servility—
All the prizes and nobility
Went to warlike Braves!
Age of death and victory—
Of blood & tears and pain—
Of war-lords age of warriors—
While the farmer, weaver, quarrier,
Were ruled and robbed and slain!
Nations rose to majesty
Through labor—wise and slow,
Then came warlike masculinity—
Homicidal assininity—
Laid the nations low.
Oft-repeated tragedy!
Yet no tongue or pen
Showed the check to real humanity
In the monstrous baseless vanity
Of these fighting men.
