Little island, you may fancy
You're alone. It so might seem.
But a thing so isolated
Scarce could prosper, one would deem.

To the mainland's golden gardens
And its forests filled with song
You are bound beneath the waters
By a power deep and strong.

And the strait that seems to sever
From the turmoil of the shore,
See where heaven over-arching
Shines reflected on its floor!
