An invective against Gould the corrupter of all
Why doe wee Lay the blame to that or this
Of any thing is acted heere a miss
And the true cause pass by why all states move
To cherish hatred and to banish Love
The Mortals God is nothing else but Gould
Wherewith all happinesse was bought and sould
Can reach noe higher then this world preferrs
Unto its sence beguilled Pasengers
This hath a Place an other would it guet
Brothers of Tindarus one star must set
To elevate the others Pole and here
Envy the orbe Contention fills the sphere
And all this from below earth but refin'd
By influence soe workes upon mans mind
That without difficulty Ide mainetaine
Affections captivd in a goulden chaine
Lawes and Religions are but traines to draw
Weaker capasaeties under this Awe
When neither truly meant becom once skand
Youl find them only steps to rayse command
Increase Possessions highten Pride untill
All Soveranties comprised 'thin the will
Of Him that to such riches can attaine
And Powre as t'mak this world his Soveraigne
But though pretence with a faire Light may shine
Whilst not etheriall't shall not be mine
Nor will I from my first foundation err
But Keepe a Rowland for an Oliver.
