Rise with superior light auspicious morn
And let the Star that sages once beheld
With glory Deck'd this happy day adorn
And lead my mind to Bethlehems holy field.

There with Seraphic hosts in wonder view
A God incarnate in a manger laid
The sacred mystery known but to a few
Is now before the admiring world display'd.

See in the gloom of midnight day appear
And in the depth of winter spring revives
While new blown roses scent the ambient air
And nature clad in brighter verdure lives

The humble shepherd and the pious sage
Only admitted to this glorious Scene
They saw what holy men in evry age
Desir'd to see, but prophets sought in vain

No earthly pomp could pay an honor here
Angels in waiting o'er the stable hung
While musick tun'd with Joy each dancing sphere
And all the morning stars a requiem sung.
