Impromptu Epigram upon Being Asked to Accompany Three or Four Very Fine Girls with Some Gentleman in a Rural Walk

If ever wit or genius shown
Propiteous on my head
Ah now confess me as your own
And stand in beautys stead
Or how can I endure this blaze
Which dazzles as it charms
While Venus sheds her kindest rays
On all these lovely forms. —
But wit and genius with a sneer
Replies your day is done
We must bestow our favours here
And hail the rising sun. —
