I remember when he took me on a trip to this place;
the prefect was a member of our company.
With ten sailboats in the springtime
we covered every part of Lake T'ai-hu.
For thirty miles, the trees on the shore
were as sparse as the hairs of an ox!
We inscribed poems at Great Thunder Mountain,
and searched for mysterious remains from the past.
And even today, in my cold dreams,
I am startled by the roar of the waves.
